Love is

Love is.... a birthday Princess turning 6 and running out of puff to blow out all the candles.

Love is... hooking up a crochet border before the school run for a friend's birthday card.

Love is... a pretty tree reflected in a not so pretty puddle.

Love is... dragging yourself off the sofa on a very rainy day and poking your tongue out at the weather.

Love is... being very brave at the dentist (this was the before shot).

Love is... decorating a valentines cookie, and then eating it yourself.

Love is... making pom poms with friends.

Love is... a photo a day :-)

Pass it on

crocheted heart

Today I had a little tiny bit of good news.
I have got a part time job. It is so part time it hardly registers on the clock but it is a start.
It is the beginning of the next bit. The bit that comes after trying to interpret gurgles, calling a day when you washed AND dried laundry productive, baby groups with self congratulatory mothers, competitive tiredness and nappies.

This is the bit when I become a self congratulatory mother for one paragraph. feel free to skip ahead if it makes you scream inside. The Wee One has mastered the potty. He is in pants full time and And AND he is dry at night too. I have done my grocery shopping and not a nappy in sight. I am celebrating by spending the fiver I would have spent on nappies on a bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

With two bits of good news in my positive pile, I had a wander through my blog reader and wanted to share a couple of posts with you. You may already have read these but if not pop over and have a gander.

Firstly, BabberBlog. His take on conjunctivitis is hilarious, masterful in fact. I implore you to read it. If you haven't ever had to administer eye drops to a small child then take this very well placed advice.

Secondly, Mr London Street. He is desperate to open up and tell people what he really thinks, do what he really wants to do, even if that is write jokes on meeting room white boards. I think we all feel like that sometimes (most of the time) but he wants to tell himself what to do first. Go and give him permission.

And finally, this from Likecool. No further explanation required.

What I am made of

I spotted this in my google reader yesterday courtesy of likecool.com, the home of all things geeky and cool.

It made me think (briefly) about what I am made of.

And here is the output from that brain dump:

3.2% domesticaphobe
5.5% sewist/craftist
5.6% photographer
6.1% cook
6.7% ranty parent trying to keep the little darlings in line
11.9% bottom wiper, nose blower, tear drier, convincing sympathetic listener whilst posting on instagram simultaneously
17.2% wife and convincing sympathetic listener whilst posting on instagram simultaneously
43.8% Ninja mummy who would eradicate anyone or anything that came even close to hurting my babies so don't even think about it.

Because the bond that exists between my children and I has got stronger each day, which makes it pretty darn strong considering it was up there in the Strong Things List the day they were born. As much as I moan and whinge about their less-than-perfect behaviour, their bickering and the sea of toys to be negotiated just to have a bath, they are the most important and precious things in my world and they fill my heart (whilst reserving a little bit of space for the Mr).
