This is NOT Snap Slappers

Nope this isn't the place where photos turn into tweenage girls trying make up for the first time and have eyeshadow all over their eyes, literally all over, in a lovely shade of blue and lipstick applied straight from the stick, liberally and mascara accidentally pocked into the eye thus creating tears to wash away excess blusher in pretty pink streaks.
No self respecting photo should have to go through that.
Shouldn't be allowed.

But it is a giggle isn't it?

I love tweaking and twiddling and fiddling those photos into submission and I have loved seeing the effects and techniques you have used over the last 20 weeks. But I think it is time for a little rest. I think you must all have been picnik'd out because there were only a few hardcore picnikers here last week and I know when a Snap can be Slapped no more.

So no Snap Slappers this week. Don't worry, it will be back when batteries have been recharged and when I think your creative picniking juices are flowing freely again.

Instead here is a little montage of my Slapped Snaps, all to 'help' you make a decision on who to VOTE for in the Snaps category of the BiBs. Have I mentioned I have been shortlisted?

If you have been super organised and Slapped a Snap then go ahead and use the badge, let me know and I'll add a link here.

Happy snapping everyone :)

Snap Slappers Wink Wink

We've had some good weather recently. Good enough to get out to the garden and tackle the undergrowth.

I was actually embarrassed today when my Mother-in-law/green-fingered-gift-to-gardens came over and had a wander round our garden with the Wee One.

She is polite and tactful enough to only comment on the green stuff that is growing in the shape of what may be recognised as a plant rather than a weed. Having said that, a weed is only a plant that is growing in the wrong place, so I like to feel that my garden is a refuge for all plant life and no healthy plant will be dug up or weedol'd unneccessarily.

After our forray to Wales a few weeks ago we returned to sunny Lincolnshire with a sack full of stones from the lovely beaches that we found, stones that would one day be painted, and adorn our windowsills. Or not. In fact they found their way into the garden to create a 'feature' pile of stones in a derelect corner of the herb garden.

On their journey they meandered onto the scrubland that was once a lawn and I swear they winked at me.

They may also have wolf whistled or was that my post lunch imagination?

Snap Slappers Crufts Edition

I am a dog lover. Therefore I should love Crufts.
Actually I am not a fan. Most breeds just look plain weird. Take this one for example.

credit: http://www.yummitube.com/photos?id=147
No I didn't create this but I would have if I had thought of it first! Of course my version wouldn't have looked anything like this. Probably closer to a 1000 piece jigsaw after the Wee One had chucked it out of the box, walked all over it and then fed a few pieces through the letterbox.

I don't like dogs that are any shorter than my knees, that have a yappy bark or can't see through their fur. It's just a matter of personal taste but I will always fall for the mongrel, the daft dog with the wonky ears that jumps up to lick your face. So Crufts isn't really my thing, apart from when they do working dog demonstrations and I am proved right that dogs are cleverer than most people.

Take Misty Moo for example.

I'm sure they could be trained to do anything, like an international spy for instance.

See I knew I was right.

Although a lot of the lovely bloggers who join in with Snap Slappers often follow my lead and stick with my theme for the week, there really are no rules about what you decide to tickle with the photo editing brush.
Just thought I would mention it!

So have you been slapping those effects on or just giving your photos a light tickle?
Join in and welcome to the more is definitely more school of photo editing!

Spring Snap Slappers

It's March so that qualifies as Spring doesn't it? Okay, it snowed on Sunday and I am making a scarf but it is still Spring.

The garden is going to take a lot of convincing to magic something, anything, springlike so we thought we would bring spring inside and have our own little bit of green on the windowsill.

I'm bigging this up but I am of course, referring to Mr Grasshead.

Mr Grasshead

Except there is no sign of any grass yet. The label says water daily and within 2 days you will see the first shoots. Designed for kids, even 2 days is pushing their patience and imagine how disappointed they are that 4 days later there is still no grass. Not one blade of greenery is showing.

Taking matters into my own hands I have helped nature along a bit to cheer up the brood and keep their interest going a bit longer before I cheat and buy a few square inches of astro turf and staple it to his head.

Snap Slappers - From Sulky To Silly

Based on a really dull and sulky sort of Monday I felt the need to perk myself up a bit with silliness!

The Princess was in a strop yesterday, for pretty much the whole day. There was a brief interlude of smiles around about the same time as we finished off the Wee One's birthday cake. Coincidence? Possibly.

No idea why she was being so moody. She had a good nights sleep, she had a generous dose of cbeebies, she went to the shops and chose a new book and got to adorn me with stickers, lucky girl.

The day ended in a standoff. Proper bottom lip sticking out, arms crossed and stamping feet. And that was just me. The Princess has a good teacher and managed all of the above plus screams. Screaming with your bottom lip sticking out is not easy. I have tried and I am here to tell you it takes a lot of practice.

All is now quiet. I have wine and chocolate and a little photo editing to ease the tension. I suspect there may be more sulking tomorrow when she catches a glimpse of what I have done to a photo of her I took over the weekend but I'm prepared to risk it for the minutes of pleasure it provided.

Before
After a little therapeutic editing!

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day :)

Have you got a gorgeous photo made even more gorgeous with the aid of a little editing? Then link up and cheer up my day.

Snap Slappers - Beach Style

We may have been on holiday last week.
We may have been somewhere that is known for rain.
But that did not stop us heading to the beach, in full wet weather gear (almost), and kicking back. Well, to be more accurate, we skimmed stones with varying degrees of success, we hunted jellyfish and we played chicken with the waves.

Here is The Big One successfully escaping the jaws of an enormous breaker *ahem*

And here he is again showing the real reason he is running away.

Beware the beaches in north Wales is all I can say. *reapplies shark repellent*

Snap Slappers Snow Edition

Hold the front page! It snowed at the weekend! And is befitting of us southern Brits, we hit the slopes!

We dusted off the sledge, polished our wellies and knitted a balaclava. Then we propelled ourselves down the nearest hill. I may have actually screamed on the way down the black run.

The Big One certainly did. Or was it giggling? Hard to tell at that altitude.

But here he is, stunt sledging.

sledging

Obviously this doesn't capture the speed and daring. And nor does, this but it makes me smile.

Snap Slappers Week 12

I can't believe, given I am snapping every single day in the name of 365project, that I had to resort to some old photos to get my Snap Slappers inspiration this week. Tut!

But indeed I did. Back to the sunny summer of 2010! Actually it was quite nice to look at some sunny pictures as the snow heads our way. But I digress as usual.

There she is, paintbrush in hand ready to get started on her new masterpiece.

And here you can see her just putting the finishing touches onto "Sunflowers" in the style of Van Gogh *cough*.

Please call to discuss your own commissions!

Snap Slappers Week 11

I have shed some tears this week, my friends. I have mourned the loss of a dear comrade, a supporter of Five Go Blogging and I might even go so far as to say that without them, Five Go Blogging would not be what it is today.

It is because of their strength, versatility and damn clever simplicity that Snap Slappers even exists. You might think I am exaggerating but I am not. Everyone that they touched would say the same. I know because I have seen them weep too.

Our relationship has been all too brief. We could have done so much more together, me with my snapping skills and you with your fine array of effects. We were perfect together. Oh Picnik, what will I do without you?

I know you have associates out there who follow where you have led, and so desperately want to be like you. Maybe, in time I will be able to play with them too. But right now the wound is so fresh, so raw and it needs time to heal before I can move on.

But in the meantime, oh Picnik, I wish you well in your final few months. I hope the end is your finale, your finest hour and if you could just check on the progress of my refund, I'd appreciate it. Ta.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Picnik!

Not your typical Snap Slappers this week but I hope you will forgive the indulgence in my grief.

Snap Slappers Week 10

Hello my lovely Snap Slappers!

Have you been having the glorious sunrises and sunsets that we've been having in Lincolnshire? There I was out on the pavement in my dressing gown and slippers the other morning taking this photo.

Sunrise Stamford Lincolnshire

I'm sure the neighbours think I am mad, especially as the children (also in their PJs) were intent on seeing what I was trying to photograph. Sorry to any neighbours who were trying to have a lie-in!

But anyway, lovely sunrise as it is, and being addicted to Picnik, and being a mother to 3 who on occasion can find life hard work, I had to have play.

Snap slappers, I give you Gin O'clock!

Snap Slappers Week 9

There he was, happily playing while I was clearing up after the Princess who had been painting, I come back in the room and find the Wee One sitting on the dinnig table stacking paint pots, as you do!

My revenge (!) is to picnik his photo. Seems fair to me.

So here he was, sitting like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

The wee one balancing

And a short while later he had a small army of insects crawling up his arm. Bless him, he kept very still through the whole invasion :)

Snap Slappers Week 8

Welcome to 2012!

We are 3 days in and I think I am starting to wear the year in nicely, only a couple of small blisters but otherwise I think this year will be quite comfortable.

I've been playing with my Picnik upgrade again and the joy of mashing a couple of photo's together has been all mine.

I started with these 2 pictures:

And with a pinch of photoshop and a heavy dash of picnik I ended up with this shot.

I wonder what he is thinking?

Snap Slappers Week 7

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and that Santa bought you everything that you wished for.

Top of my list was a Picnik upgrade, and guess what? I must have been good, or at least fooled Santa well enough because I got it. Oh yes. Semi-pro me! More effects, more fonts, more stickers, more lovely juicy photo editing opportunities, who could ask for anything more?

So Ladies and Gentlemen, twas the night before Christmas and the children left a note for Santa...

Note to Santa

Problem was, so had every other child on the planet and Santa was getting just a little bit drunk...

Snap Slappers Week 6

And I think it is appropriate to call it the Christmas Edition. No?

Only 5 sleeps to go. Feeling festive yet?

I had to wait until we had our Christmas tree well and truly decorated before the Christmas jingle hit and I found myself involuntarily singing carols to myself and frightening the dog.
We had the inevitable moment of anticipation to see how many fairy lights had smashed or blown in the 11 months in the loft and I am happy to report there was only one casualty and that was due to the iron flying pig on our hearth being a little too eager to nuzzle up to the berry lights.
After straightening out the angel's wings the tree was well and truly decorated. Well not quite. I found it 'needed' a little help from picnik. Sadly I cannot Picnik it in real life so I can either make do with the original...

or print this photo out magnified by about 1000% and tape a few reams of paper together.

Have a great Christmas and don't forget to come back next week. I'll be here wearing my Christmas jumper and eating yet another turkey sandwich xxx

Snap Slappers - Week 5

I really should get on with preparing for Christmas.

How many sleeps to go? Answer: not enough!

But the problem is I just keep being distracted by photos. I have spent hours going back through my photographic archives (when I managed to find them) and I could improve every single one of them if I had the time, by tweaking and adjusting and playing with effects. I just LOVE it. And to make matters even worse I've started playing with photoshop too. There is so much you can do with it, but it is significantly more compicated and as I haven't quite sussed it yet I'll save you from my painful endeavours for the time being.

The subject of my photo fiddling this week is a sculpture I found at Burghley Sculpture Gardens in the summer. As is the norm, here is the before picture which managed to adopt a strange tint to it.

And then I added a couple of effects (I can't actually remember which ones, it was all a holga, tint blur).

Now it is your turn.

Snap Slappers Week 4

Back again by popular demand is Snap Slappers!

All you Picnik-aholics out there looking for a vent for your addiction, this is the place. I understand that Picnik isn't for everyone (strange but true) so whatever your photo-editing software choice, add your link below.

Misty Moo is the star of the show this week, caught napping on the sofa and clearly looking very stressed.

I wanted to break with tradition this week and try something a little bit more artistic so I cropped and went all Holga-ish to produce this photo.

Still looking stressed clearly.

Add your link below. Can't wait to check out your creations!
