I am allergic to gyms. They make me all hot and sweaty. Not natural.
I am not designed for running. What with dodgy knees, weak ankles and bobbing boobs, I would either incur an injury or inflict one.
Swimming is a challenge with 2 non-swimmers in tow and another who only wants to go down the slide.
I have a cycling helmet and a pump but no bike which makes cycling a challenge.
I have a fitness DVD or two but my DVD player is in my living room at the front of my house and I could not stand the shame of being witnessed going for the burn. Yes I do have curtains, and it is dark earlier now but not early enough.
I do, however, have two feet, a dog and a pram.
Admittedly Misty Moo is getting older and less likely to sustain a brisk pace, and is easily distracted by every other blade of grass. And the toddler is not always a compliant participant in power pram walking, preferring a toddle waddle instead.
But I get out into the fresh air and I stretch my legs, and it's now my favourite season for walking, crunching through fallen leaves, my breath visible. My mind can clear itself of the clutter, it can organise itself, and it is fitter, better able to manage this family's life.

My main exercise is buggy pushing too! It must burn off some calories??
ReplyDeleteLovely photo I love the coloured leaves which match the rustic brown colour of your dog x
Being a mum is one of the toughest workouts known to man, especially when the buggy is loaded up with bags of shopping x
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like enough fitness for me! Beautiful photo, such amazing colours!
ReplyDeleteSo agree, nothing better than a dog walk on a crisp autumn day x.
ReplyDeletePushing a pram - especially up a hill is hard work of you ask me x
ReplyDeleteAnother absolutely lovely photo Alison x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! Pushing a pram is hard work. Went to London last week and had a number of bags and a pushchair. Hard work!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo, I love the colours. Pushing the pram is a workout in itself!
ReplyDeleteLoving the photo, especially the cute bright pink crocs! Gorgeous street you're walking down, where do you live?
ReplyDeleteLovely photo - a great composition! I love the colours of the trees - I do like the change of colours we get at this time of year! A brilliant way to keep fit :)
ReplyDeleteLovely picture :) Pre-child I used to run stupidly long distances, now? Walking the buggy. Much more enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo - the depth of the composition - toddler in buggy, or wheeling toddler along on her scooter - is now my main form of exercise too!
ReplyDeleteA lovely seasonal picture. Lovely :) x
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than starting the day with a walk. I think having two toddlers, a dog and a cat, I would surely go mad if I didn't go out for a walk everyday!
My main exercise is running after my toddler, I'm pretty sure I am allergic to gyms too!
ReplyDeleteI think I was at my fittest when I had 2 small people in a buggy, even though I never did any actual exercise. Funny post though :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree that walking everywhere is so lovely with little ones and even though the dog might not go at a good pace, surely that is outweighed by the buggy pushing
ReplyDeletegreat photo - I miss walking with the pram - I don't miss the toddle waddle (so slow, until I got him a scooter). Walking is the best exercise and so much cheaper than the gym!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about walking being good for clearing your mind as well as good exercise and it's surprising how much more difficult a buggy laden down with child can make it!
ReplyDeleteWalking is about the only form of exercise I would call pleasurable I detest gyms or classes of any sort.
ReplyDeleteCant beat pram pushing for fitness! Its been a while for me but it used to keep me really fit x
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I am definitely fitter since having children and lugging the pram everywhere.
ReplyDeleteGorge colours in that picture!
ReplyDeletelove the photo but your words made me giggle xxx
